MAKEUP ARTIST
About Myself
Hello, I’m Cheryl Howe a trainee media makeup artist from Morecambe in Lancashire. I have always had a massive passion for makeup, from being a young child I have always loved the way it could transform a person’s appearance. I have only recently gained the courage and confidence to fulfil my dreams. So, my makeup journey finally began for me in September 2019 when I enrolled at Lancaster and Morecambe college to study media hair and makeup level 2, I was only really expecting to learn to be a makeup artist. But on the course itself I had my eyes opened the massive spectrum of makeup. I found a bigger passion and my career ideas had changed. I have continued to do media makeup level 3 to learn more skills and my excitement and passion just keeps growing. So this year 2022 I had applied to study at Salford City college part of media city doing FDA media makeup for fashion. To my surprise I was offered a place. Doing this I am hoping to be a makeup artist for Tv, film and theatre.
My Work
Level 2 Work

Fantasy Body Art Avatar
Avatar was my second body art look. Our tutors brief for the looks was to create a fantasy look from either Tv, film or a book. I choose to do an Na'vi from the film Avatar I love this film it's so magical the colours and fibre optic look gives. so to achieve this look I used a mixture of body paint, face paint and makeup. I turned my model into my own interpretation of a Na'vi and to give the look a fibre optic look I used UV face paint so it would glow up under a black light.
Flag Body Art
This was my first ever body art. The brief from our tutor was to pick a country's flag and paint it on to a models face and shoulders. I had never doing anything like this before and thought to myself face painting isn't that for children but ok I will give it a go. I choose the Scottish flag as my mother was from Scotland and I love the Scottish culture and history. This was not by far my greatest work but I gave me the foundation to improve and I now have a passion for body art and design.

My Level 2 Final Elements
This was my final look to complete media makeup and hair level 2. the brief we where give from our tutors was elements and this was also to be a competition. I chose to do the element earth. for this look I use greens of all different shade to create the face. I them added green pearls and butterflies to the look something extra. I also did my models hair in a Dutch braid and I added green hair extensions to the braid. my look also won the competition couldn't believe it as i had only started 8 month before never doing anything like this.

Instaglam Look
Theses to looks where my practice look for an instaglam assignment our tutor gave us. This was also something I had never done before using bold colours. for these looks I also experiment with making my own lip gloss colours to fit the brief were given I was blown away with the results of the green look and how it stood.

Level 3 Work

Halloween Look
This is my level 3 Halloween look. The brief we where give was Halloween just Halloween. So I choose to create a zombie kind of clown. using a mixture of face paint and makeup with just a touch of glitter. I put the models hair in to pig tail buns. I also added a stripy top hat to add something to the look.
Level 3 Fantasy Look
This is my level 3 fantasy look. I chose to create a butterfly fairy for this look. I start to design this look by drawing butterfly wings colouring them in rainbow colours gluing then to card so they would be tough enough to apply to the face of my model. For the look itself I used a mixture of makeup and body paint to achieve the final look. I never got a chance to practice this i just did it. I have to say this is one of my personal favourites I am so proud of how it turned out.

Christmas Look For Work Placement
For our work placement the college had organised our class to attended as makeup artist and hair stylists for the Christmas school production. Our tutor then set us a competition to design the makeup looks for elf's and reindeers. I won for the elf looks and in the photography is the final results. i really enjoyed the experince of working within the production and working on the girls faces and as part of a team.

Fashion And Photographic
Fashion and photographic Avant-garde makeup look. This is my madam butterfly look I wanted to create a very bold eye that ha the appearance of a butterfly but also wanted to make the skin look flawless. I made my own lip-gloss for this look and to finish the look I attach butterflies.
Media Hair Look
Through the level 2 and level 3 I learnt many different styles and techniques and I have also found a love for styling and dressing hair. Blow drying, curling, hair ups and using decoration.

The Vikings Are Coming
In January 2022 my niece asked me to assist her with a film she was making for her portfolio she's will be studying media filming making. Se had chosen the theme of Vikings. So I got to work designing the makeup and hair. she didn't just want a female model she also wanted a male. So after 2 practices of the look this is what the results where.
